About alpaca walks (Advanced bookings only)

There’s nothing like getting out into nature on your own two feet. And there’s no better company than an alpaca. Get involved! Join us on one of our daily alpaca walks.

When you sign up to our alpaca walks, you have the chance to meet our beautiful alpaca family in the flesh. You’ll get to know the dams (mums), and the crias (babies).

They’re inquisitive, good-natured beasts that are sure to make you laugh. And just like humans, they all have their own special personalities.

We’ll give you the lowdown on all things alpaca. Learn about the history of alpacas, their daily routines, and some fun facts about the animals.

Once we’ve haltered the alpacas, it’s time to go exploring our stunning 22 acres of luscious land. If you’re lucky, we’ll spot some other local wildlife too.

Please keep checking this page and we will update the website when we are doing the alpaca walks again.

Need-to-know information

Terms and conditions for alpaca walking

  • Please inform us at the time of booking of any health limitations or issues that we should be aware of. Where possible, we are very happy to modify the walk or distance in a way that accommodates our guests’ needs. Walking alpacas may not be suitable for all as it involves walking across unmade fields and you need to use both hands at all times to be in control of the alpaca.
  • Alpacas are herd animals, so a minimum of 2 alpacas must be booked for each walk. We normally cater for up to 6 walking alpacas (12 people) on any given walk.
  • It is possible to accommodate single walkers but only in conjunction with another group so as to always have a minimum of 2 alpacas walking.
  • Walks leave from the farmyard no later than midday. Please arrive ten minutes early so we can leave promptly at midday.
  • Unfortunately, so as not to inconvenience other guests who have booked to walk, if you arrive late you will be unable to join the walk and your booking will be cancelled. If you think you might be late, please phone us and let us know as soon as possible. We will do our utmost to be flexible while bearing the needs of other guests in mind.
  • We need at least 48 hours’ notice if you cancel a walk as it is unlikely we can fill the places on that walk. Unfortunately we will not be able to issue any refunds for cancellations of less than 48 hours or in the case of any “no shows”.
  • We are not an “open farm” and can only offer alpaca walks by prior arrangement.
  • Sensible footwear is a must! We suggest wellies in the winter and walking boots or trainers in the summer. Do not wear flip flops.
  • Clothing should be appropriate for the conditions but please avoid anything that might flap (we will ask you to tuck it in if it does). We strongly recommend wearing long trousers.
  • We have to take stringent biosecurity measures so we will ask you to dip your footwear on arrival.
  • Our alpacas are not used to dogs so we have a strict no dog policy on the farm or walk. Please contact us if you have an assistance dog.
  • Alpacas are like humans and may not be happy to walk in bad weather. If the weather forecast looks bad, we will endeavour to let you know the evening before (via email/text/call) if there is a risk of cancellation. We will make a final decision on the morning itself and contact you. If we do cancel a walk, we will issue you with a voucher for the same value as your booked walk so you can rebook at your leisure (there is no expiry date to the voucher), subject to availability.
  • Alpaca walking is not suitable for pushchairs.
  • Children must be over the age of 6 to walk an alpaca.
  • Please note that we follow camelid dynamics principles.
