We recently opened our inbox to some news that completely blew us away. We have been officially shortlisted as finalists in four separate categories for this year’s Croeso Awards, hosted by Visit Pembrokeshire! They have never had a company be short listed in so many catergories.

To say we are delighted, honoured, and a little bit emotional would be an understatement. We have been nominated for:

• 🏆 Bro a Byd (Environmental & Sustainability Award)
• 🏆 Rising Star Award

Being recognised alongside the very best of Pembrokeshire’s tourism industry is a massive achievement for us, and it comes at a time when it means the absolute most.

A Journey of Resilience: From Derelict Fields to Finalists

If you’ve been following our story, you know that the road to building Sweet Home Alpacas hasn’t always been smooth. We built this dream from scratch, transforming two empty, overgrown, derelict fields into the farm we love today. We launched right at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, navigated hurdles like the devastating impact of bird flu, and faced down unexpected infrastructure setbacks.

Through every single challenge, two things kept us moving forward: our love for this land, and you—our incredible community.

What we originally thought would be a “once-in-a-lifetime” experience for visitors has instead grown into what we proudly call our Alpaca Family. Our customers return year after year to follow our journey, and so many of you have become dear, lifelong friends. Whether you are bringing a two-year-old toddler, a moody teenager, or a grumpy grandad, seeing our alpacas bring whole families together in pure joy is exactly why we do this.

Celebrating Community & Conservation

These nominations reflect everything we have poured our hearts into. The Bro a Byd (Environmental & Sustainability) nod is incredibly special to us. It honours the 3,000 trees we’ve planted, the wild meadow we’ve nurtured, and the 18 bird boxes and 12 bat boxes we’ve put up to give back to Pembrokeshire’s beautiful wildlife.

It also celebrates our passion for community. From offering vital work experience to local young people who aren’t in education or employment, to creating a therapeutic, safe space for the most vulnerable groups in society, we’ve always wanted this farm to be a force for good.

The grand awards evening takes place at Pembrokeshire College on Thursday, 29th October 2026. Win or lose, just being in that room as finalists is a victory for our small family business. It’s proof that hard work, resilience, and a lot of alpaca love can overcome any obstacle.
