We have reopened

Sweet Home Alpaca reopened to the public on the 25th of April after the directors temporarily closed the business to have their first baby. Baby Elis was born on 27th February and has already been welcomed by the alpacas, chickens, and dogs.

On April 26th we had our first customers for an alpaca walking experience. The walks are proving to be a real hit, with lots of 5 star reviews.

Other Business
Alex has built a beautiful log cabin for us to live in. The dogs, Monti and Flo, have settled well into their new home. Our puppy Flo loves to tease 8 year old Monti by stealing his ball!

Our chickens were very happy to learn that the chicken lockdown (flockdown) due to avian flu has ended. They are back enjoying having free reign of the field and terrorising the alpacas by stealing their food!

Christmas was our busiest month with lots of people buying alpaca experience vouchers for their loved ones. You can order an Alpaca Walk or Meet and Greet through our website or Facebook page.

Sweet Home Alpaca has now sold all the alpaca fleece from last year. The next shearing date is June 6th. The fleece on their legs cannot be used for spinning so instead of wasting it we have started selling the fleece as ‘bird nesting material’ at the farm.

The gardening season is upon us. Angela has been busy getting the plants and vegetables ready in preparation of selling them this summer.

The matings have been completed for this year and are very excited to welcome 19 alpaca babies (crias) in September.

All in all, it is a very busy and exciting time for us and we’re look forward to meeting lots of new guests this year!
